Time to Save the Republic

Election day is upon us.  Here in the United States, we don’t have a king.  We have representatives chosen by us from among us.   If Moral issues of life, marriage and free speech leave us still searching for a candidate, what else do we look for?  Here are a few ideas:

  • Genesis 12:1-3 / Ps 122:6.  Look for someone who will bless Israel.  We love all people and encourage Israel to treat their neighbors respectfully.  Israel, the state, is not always right.  They do, however, always have the right to exist and the right to defend themselves.  Vote for those who will protect those rights.
  • John 2:24-25.  Man is a fallen creature.  To give any one man or group power without accountability is to insure tyranny.  Our country has three distinct branches of federal government and a limitation on the powers thereof.  Vote for those who will stand up for the necessity of limited government and preserve the republic.
  • Proverbs 24:21.  Our constitution is the written basis for our system, the root of the rule of law.  The rule of law is essential to any kind of security.  If we are governed by men, including entrenched government bureaucrats who rule by regulation, we are never able to plan for the future.  We are instead in constant doubt as to what the rules will be tomorrow.  Vote for those who insist that we play by the Constitution, not the regulators.
  • Don’t be swayed by TV ads.  They are paid to sell candidates just like they sell cars and stuffed toys and big Macs.  Look to the content of the character as reflected by actions rather than words: Do your homework!!  We live in the information age.  Take advantage of it.

The overarching purpose of our republic is not prosperity, our motivation is not greed.  Our goal is liberty and our method is love.  Don’t let this chance to save the liberty pass you by.  Go vote and take someone with you.  Pass it on
