Experts Debate What Causes Babies

If you want a gauge of the madness of the world, just listen to the news shows as they interview our secular priesthood, the experts.  This week there was a new study showing that the rate of teenage pregnancies is up significantly for the first time since the Clinton administration.  Now, the politics notwithstanding, I found the analysis fascinating.  One very serious lady with a long list of initials after her name opined that we needed to do a new study, funded by tax dollars, to find the cause of these pregnancies. Then before I could so much as scream at the screen, they switched to a local guru.  She was happy to tell us that the increase was due to kids having “the time and opportunity.”  (Are we raising animals that must be leashed to control them?) This was, of course, due to the lack of programs to keep them busy. If they have something fun to do they won’t have babies. (How about going to school?) Experts are apparently people who have been educated far beyond the limits of their intelligence.

Now I know I don’t need to explain this to you, because you are smart enough to be reading this.  But humor me a minute.  I am of the conviction that pregnancy is directly caused by copulation.  I am also convinced that copulation outside of the marriage bed is fornication, and therefore sinful.  While I know that Christians sometimes do sinful things, they at least have enough sense to know it’s wrong, though I think we have gotten very lax in proclaiming it. (When you downgrade it from a sin to a mistake, it then becomes equal to wearing checks and stripes,)  It is apparent to me that our culture has totally forgotten the concept of sin, and that the vast majority of our kids grow up with no moral constraints whatsoever.  Having been a teenager, I think I am safe in saying that no amount of after school basket weaving will stop the hormonal flood from flowing.  Programs do not stop fornication; morals do.  God help us find leaders with the backbone to stand up and say, “Kids, keep your pants on until you get married.  God is not pleased with you and we won’t coddle you.”

Scripture Reading:   1 Corinthians 6:18-20 NLT  (18)  Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.  (19)  Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,  (20)  for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

Somebody Said: After the first blush of sin comes its indifference.  Henry David Thoreau

I thank God for a church that is forgiving and accepting of folks who have been broken by sin, but sometimes it is important to decry the sin, lest the next innocent be entrapped thereby.  Sin ain’t cool and we need to be sure we don’t make it seem so.  We really don’t need and expert to tell us that.
