Disoriented World

I was fascinated with the flap over the Miss USA pageant.  I am personally still a little uncomfortable with the idea of young women walking around on TV in the skimpiest of underwear and then talking about their faith in Christ, but that is a story for another time.  Miss California was asked what she thought about homosexual marriage.  She replied in the most innocuous fashion that she believed marriage was to be between a man and a woman.  The ensuing uproar has been nothing short of bizarre.  Her interrogator came totally unglued.  He cursed her and proclaimed her unfit to represent the USA.  She has been roundly accused of espousing a “controversial” position.  It seems that in the arena of public discussion, the idea that marriage is for male and female is now a “controversial” opinion.  When did that happen?  The fact is that most of us still think that way whether the TV station does or not.  The reason we think that way is that we are relatively sane.  When two homosexuals decide to cohabit, it is not marriage, no matter what our twisted society decides to call it.  Marriage is when God joins a man with a woman in covenant relationship for the purpose of reflecting the love of Christ for the Church.

As I read my bible this morning I noted Psalm 12:6-8.    The words of the LORD are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. You shall keep them, O LORD, You shall preserve them from this generation forever. The wicked prowl on every side, When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

It is a sad day when when sodomy is exalted the norm and those who object are vilified, but that is where we are.  I have to believe that the Lord will protect the standard of His Word and those who proclaim it.  God help us.
